The 2003 ITF Junior World Ranking Tournament (Group 4), played at the Marsa Sports Club last week and sponsored by San Michel, witnessed a very high standard of tennis.

Club members and tennis enthusiasts were delighted with the high-level of competition which culminated in Saturday's finals - three-and-a-half hours of spectacular tennis.

Rosanne Dimech had an excellent performance. This promising youngster has improved significantly this year and has been playing very confidently even in tournaments of this level. At Marsa last week, she was in fine form going on to make it to the singles and doubles finals.

She failed to win any of the two contests but her showing was a creditable one and augurs well for the future. The Malta Tennis Federation (MTF) has already informed Dimech she will play two international tournaments in Spain in September.

Malta Officiating Committee members umpired the semi-finals and finals. MTF president Peter Zammit, Farsons' David Micallef and Tennis Section chairman Godwin Borg distributed the prizes to the winners.
