Disabled parking

I have recently received two fines for parking illegally on a yellow line even though a disabled card was clearly displayed.

I have checked with the local police station and they advised that disabled parking on yellow lines is legal.

Either the warden company is not aware of the Maltese and EU law or alternatively the position in Malta is different from that in the rest of the EU.

It would be helpful to know if other disabled individuals have had similar experiences when parking and also it would be equally beneficial to know what the correct legal position is.

There is a freephone number 800 77 2373 on the ticket to be used in case of enquiry or difficulty and although frequent attempts have been made to contact the number there was no reply.

In both instances, the tickets were issued by the Sliema local council.
