I refer to J. G. Cefai's letter (February 5) in which he states that the only solution for anyone who seeks to discuss the divorce issue is for one to forget one was ever baptised.
Has Mr Cefai conveniently forgotten that divorce is unobtainable to anyone, whatever one's religious ideas or beliefs?
So, were one to take Mr Cefai's suggestion, and in fact choose another religion, this would in no way make any difference as to this person's divorce.
It is sad that people like Mr Cefai view delicate, social subjects such as these from a one-dimensional religious viewpoint.
He also implies that people debating this subject are all seeking to obtain divorce. I, for one, am not even married, however, I tend to reserve the right to discuss any subject I choose to, be it divorce or any other issue.
For Mr Cefai to ask anybody to refrain from writing anything on this subject is nothing more than outdated religious intolerance.
It is ideas such as these that, perhaps, continue to persuade certain people to forget they were ever baptised.
