District five: PN clinches second seat from Labour

While Robert Abela dominates the district, Conrad Borg Manche and Toni Bezzina win two PN seats

The Nationalist Party has clinched a second seat in the fifth district, with Labour convert Conrad Borg Manche joining party veteran Toni Bezzina in the blue seats.

As expected, Prime Minister Robert Abela dominated the Labour vote in the district, which consists of Birżebbuġa, Mqabba, Kirkop, Qrendi, Safi and Żurrieq.

Energy Minister Miriam Dalli and junior minister Omar Farrugia won the other two seats.

According to PN projections, Labour won the district by a majority of 61% to the PN’s 35%.

In 2022, PL secured 65% of the district’s vote.

Former Labour MP Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi just managed to clinch a fourth seat for the party in 2022 by a margin of just over 250 votes, with Bezzina breathing down his neck in the race for the final seat.
