Over the last few years, the Consumer and Competition Division (CCD) has been joining other authorities and organisations around the world in celebrating World Consumer Rights Day on March 15.
Through the introduction of consumer legislation during the last years, local consumers have been put on a par with other consumers around the world. The CCD carries out an ongoing educational campaign throughout the year aimed at both traders and consumers in respect of these newly introduced consumer rights.
One of the highlights of our campaign is a family activity during which prizes are distributed to students who, during the year, participated in various CCD competitions carried in school magazines.
This popular activity is this year being held on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Republic Hall, Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. The programme features well known entertainers including the YADA Dancers, Mini and Griz, a children's choir under the direction of Natasha and Charlene Grima, the Tanya Bayona-Poutiatine Academy of Ballet and Lynn Chircop, who will be singing the song with which she won this year's Song for Europe festival. Enzo Gusman, who will be compering this show, will also be singing some songs from his popular repertoire.
At the end of this activity Dr George Hyzler, Parliamentary Secretary responsible for consumer and competition policy, will be presenting prizes to the young participants who were successful in this year's competitions.
Entrance to this activity is free of charge. However, persons wishing to attend are requested to phone CCD on tel: 2144-6250-5 to reserve seats.
