DJ priest Padre Guilherme to headline Għaxaq Music Festival
Portuguese priest will be joined by British trance and electronic dance music duo POU
Internationally renowned 'DJ priest' Padre Guilherme will perform in Malta for the first time this summer as the headline act at the Għaxaq Music Festival.
The Portuguese priest and electronic music artist will top the bill on July 24 as part of the festival's 2026 edition, organisers announced on Saturday.
Padre Guilherme rose to international prominence after performing before more than one million people during the closing events of the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon. Since then, he has appeared in cities including Buenos Aires, Beirut, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Fátima, blending electronic music with messages of faith, unity and hope.
Festival organisers described his appearance in Malta as a landmark moment that will bring one of the world's most recognisable DJ-priests to local audiences for the first time.
He will be joined by British trance and electronic dance music duo POU – Product of Us, who will perform as special guests.
The line-up will also feature Maltese artists JJoy, Mux and Braynod.
This year's festival forms part of the celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Għaxaq parish. Organisers said the event aims to combine four centuries of local history and tradition with a contemporary music experience.
The festival will also support Embrace Diversity Organisation, a voluntary organisation that assists children and young people with disabilities. Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund its work with families and promote greater inclusion.
