Do not eat these products: basmati rice and curry powder recalled

Curry contains prohibited colouring, rice is contaminated with pesticides

Health authorities on Thursday warned consumers not to use mild madras curry powder produced by TRS and not to eat Sella Basmati Rice by Royal Golden.

The authorities said the curry powder contains the colour Rhodamine B which is not authorised for use in food.

The curry powder is sold in 10g packets with the best before date of February 28, 2026.

The parboiled basmati rice by the brand Royal Golden contains elevated levels of pesticides Acetamiprid and Thiamethoxam.

The warning concerns Lot L15-10-2026 which his sold in a 5kg box.

The products should either be thrown away or returned to the store from where they were purchased.
