Domestic exports rose by Lm2 million, to Lm65.8 million, in September compared to the figure for the same month last year, figures issued by the National Statistics Office yesterday show.

It was the third successive monthly rise in domestic exports, albeit at a slower pace, after declines between January and June this year and much of last year.

Total imports in September rose by Lm12.7 million, to Lm96.6 million, with imports of industrial supplies rising by Lm6.4 million to Lm49.7 million.

Imports of capital goods rose by Lm2.4 million, to Lm14.4 million, imports of consumer goods rose by Lm2.3 million, to Lm24.2 million, while fuel imports rose by Lm1.6 million to Lm8.3 million.

Imports in the first nine months this year dropped by Lm17 million, to Lm901.8 million, compared to the same period last year.

Total exports rose by Lm3.7 million, to Lm672 million, but domestic exports were down by Lm25.2 million, or 4.2 per cent, to Lm577.9 million.

In the first nine months, the visible trade gap contracted by Lm20.7 million, to Lm229.8 million, from Lm250.5 million in the same period last year.
