The National Statistics Office will be carrying out a second quarterly survey on domestic waste composition during this month.

The objective, being undertaken with the cooperation of the Department for Waste Management, is to gather information about the type and quality of domestic waste.

A sample of about 400 households was randomly selected from a list of households. They are being asked to place their household waste in garbage bags specially supplied by the office.

The survey started yesterday and ends on Saturday.

The NSO said that such a survey would raise awareness about domestic waste, but its success depended on the participation of the selected households.

The NSO also encouraged households to contribute actively towards the realisation of the survey's objectives.
