The Gozo Ministry recently donated Lm2,500 to the Gozo Business Chamber. Presenting the cheque to the chamber's president, Dr Michael Caruana, Minister Giovanna Debono said that since the Ministry for Gozo was founded in 1998, its aim was to promote the setting up of organisations which bring together the island's social and economic partners. It was this which led to the setting up of the Gozo Business Chamber and the Gozo Tourism Association in 1999, she said.
The minister also said that the Gozo Business Chamber has played an important role in studying Gozo's needs to obtain a suitable package for Gozo in Malta's negotiations with the EU. She added that now that Malta has joined the European Union, the Gozo Business Chamber will be given more importance since its president is also a member of the Gozo Projects Committee.
