Don't consume this smoked salmon as it could give you food poisoning
People should throw it away or return it to the shop
The health authorities on Monday warned against the consumption of a particular smoked salmon product as it could lead to food poisoning.
Deluxe's Salmone Affumicato Norvegese con pistacchio, which comes in 100g packets with lot number LC22606501, and an expiry date of 21/04/2026, could potentially be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the food safety and security authority said in a statement.
Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, the authority said, adding that some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.
The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average three weeks but can range between three and 70 days.
Consumers are being advised not to consume the product and either dispose of it or return it to the store from which it was purchased.
