Moving house can be stressful, add to that the stress of having to inform different state entities of your new personal information and you might consider not bothering to let them know at all.
But imagine a system where all you had to do was inform one government office of your new information for it to be shared with all the relevant authorities and entities.
That is the vision the government has in mind for the future - but it’s still a “while away”.
Principle Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar today explained how a number of projects that would be implemented in the public sector over the coming years sought to make this "dream" a reality eventually.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Cutajar told reporters around €1million had been allocated to Malta by the European Commission for various projects that would help reform the civil service and make it more user-friendly.
Some 13 projects will be carried out in total, focusing on priority areas like training for public officials, and institutional reforms.
“The vision for the future is moving the public sector towards citizens only having to tell the government something once, but first we have to harmonise and upgrade,” he said.
EU Funds Parliamentary Secretary Aaron Farrugia explained that Malta had competed for the funds with other member states and a number of different projects had been given the go-ahead.
Dr Farrugia said another €1million had also been allocated for a number of projects in areas such as the educational system, maritime, and the judiciary.
