A school bus driver was yesterday charged with the violent indecent assault of a 16-year-old student.

Anthony Scerri, 44, of Fgura pleaded not guilty to holding the girl against her will, defiling and threatening her and offending public morals on and before February 28.

After Magistrate Michael Mallia ordered that Scerri be remanded in police custody, the accused could be seen emotionally protesting his innocence to his wife outside the court room.

Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted.
