Driver hospitalised after car crushed between two trucks in Birżebbuġa

The car sustained considerable damage, driver's injuries still unknown

A driver was hospitalised after his car was crushed between two trucks in Birżebbuġa on Friday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the police said the accident happened at 1.45pm on Triq Ħal Far when a Hyundai i10 crashed into the rear of an Iveco trailer driven by a 31-year-old man from Żurrieq. 

The car was then hit from behind by a DAF truck driven by a 36-year-old man from Paola, leaving it crushed between the two vehicles.

The passenger car sustained considerable damage.

The driver of the car was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Police investigations are under way.
