Driver injured after trailer and cement tanker overturn in Ħal Far

Road closed after collision, cement and fuel strewn across the road

A man was injured after a trailer and a bulk cement tanker overturned in Ħal Far on Friday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 2pm on Triq Ħal Far, limits of Birżebbuġa, when the two vehicles were involved in a collision which caused both of them to topple onto their sides.

Upon impact, the cement tanker detached from the cabin.

The road is currently closed to traffic as the vehicles are blocking the two lanes and a "large quantity" of cement and fuel is strewn across the road, a police spokesperson said.

Police and a medical team are on site. The driver of the cement tanker was taken to hospital for medical treatment. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.
