A traffic light offence cost a motorist dear after he breached his bail conditions and was slapped with a fine of €1,750 by a court.

The incident happened two days ago in Valley Road, Msida, when 34-year-old Walter Mallo from Fgura drove through the red lights. The offence was immediately spotted by a police officer, who was faced with a barrage of insults as soon as he approached the accused.

The court heard how the man had also breached the bail conditions granted to him by another court, where he is facing separate proceedings.

The accused pleaded guilty to all charges. He was also placed under a year-long probation order.
