Drug dealer remanded in custody after being caught 'delivering something'

The man was on the police 'wanted' list as he had stopped signing the bail books

A 35-year-old Ħamrun man was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to dealing cocaine and heroin.

Burgh Spiteri appeared in court on Thursday afternoon where he was also charged with being in possession of drugs in circumstances that denoted it was not for personal use.

He was further charged with breaching two sets of bail conditions and recidivism.

The man denied the charges.

It is understood that the man was put on the wanted list after he stopped signing his bail books in line with the bail conditions imposed by the courts in two separate cases.

The police had observed the man driving and delivering something.

Eventually the man was arrested following a tip off.

Bail was not requested at this stage and he was remanded in custody.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella presided.

AG lawyer Godwin Cini prosecuted, assisted by police inspector Jonathan Pace.
