Drug trafficking charges

A young man whose name cannot be published by court order was yesterday arraigned on drug trafficking charges.

The youth was charged by Inspector Josric Mifsud with having, towards the end of last week, been in unlawful possession of ecstasy, cannabis and cocaine. He was also charged with having provided ecstasy to third parties and with holding ecstasy in circumstances that indicated that the drug was not intended for his personal use.

Duty magistrate Joseph Cassar ordered a ban on the publication of the accused's name and further ordered that the accused be kept in preventive custody at the youths section of the prisons.

Dr Roberto Montalto and Dr Joseph Giglio were counsel to the accused.
