Prison wardens in the past six months made 14 discoveries of substances which were suspected to be drugs. There were also four instances where wine was found to have been given to the inmates, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Mario Galea (PN) in reply to a parliamentary question.

He said the prison staff made some 40 searches every day on people who entered the prisons, inmates who went to court, clinics or were back from prison leave as well as searches in cells, workshops and recreation areas.
