I refer to the letter by Mr Joseph P. Azzopardi (The Sunday Times, February 6).

I have been keeping an aquarium for 20 years, and although I consider myself a fish keeper I sometimes manage to breed fish - or maybe they do this on their own!

A few years ago I bought some coloured glo-light fish from a local pet shop. They managed to breed in my community set-up and after a few days I had small fry swimming about, which I carefully removed and placed in another tank where they could grow undisturbed.

To my amazement the fish were colourless, unlike their parents! When I spoke to a member of the Malta Aquarist Society he told me the whole story, as related to us by Mr Azzopardi, so I totally agree with him that there should be a ban on selling or buying such fish, and even on importing them.
