E.ON increased its UK power prices by 9.7 per cent and gas by an average of 15 per cent as from yesterday, the company said.

"A typical dual fuel customer will see their bill rise by 31p a day," the company said in a statement.

E.ON AG (E.ON) is an industrial group in Germany. The company's core energy business is organised into six separate market units: Central Europe, Pan-European Gas, UK, Nordic, US Midwest and Corporate Centre. The Corporate Centre consists of E.ON AG itself, those interests owned directly and indirectly by E.ON AG that has not been allocated to any of the other segments, including its remaining telecommunications interests.
