An EasyJet flight from London Gatwick to Malta diverted to Lyon in France on Monday morning because of an undisclosed technical issue.

The aircraft, an Airbus A319 was about half way on its flight to Malta when it declared an emergency and landed safely.

It had been due in Malta at 10.40am.
