The Education Ministry is drawing up a series of reports for reforms in various sectors of the educational system in Malta, Education Minister Louis Galea said.
He said the reports would serve as the basis for a discussion process with educators, parents, students and all those involved in education.
Dr Galea said that among the sectors which were being analysed with a critical eye were the management of the education process for students aged between three and 16, the organisation of primary and secondary schools, the national strategy for lifelong education, the management of the University of Malta and the MATSEC and SEC systems.
Dr Galea was speaking when he visited Marsascala primary school where he met children and teachers who are participating in Skolasajf 2003.
There are some 4,000 boys and girls from state, Church and independent schools attending Skolasajf.
During his visit, Dr Galea also watched activities which were being organised by Skolasajf to mark the day dedicated to the protection of animals.
The activities are being coordinated by the Society for the Protection and Care of Animals.
Dr Galea said Malta was expected to sign all the conventions of the Council of Europe dealing with the protection of animals.
