A seminar entitled 'Education, Communities and Social Cohesion' is to be held on February 26 from 8.15 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. to present the result of the research conducted in the Includ-ed project during its first three years.
The project, which is supported under the EU's Sixth Framework Programme, is researching the impact that education and various educational practices have on social cohesion.
The seminar will include presentations about inclusive and exclusionary education practices, the impact of educational level on access to housing, healthcare and other social benefits, as well as practices of community involvement in schools that have successfully contributed to students' academic success.
The seminar will be addressed by Suzanne Gatt from the University's Faculty of Education, which is a partner in the project, MEP Simon Busuttil, Malta Council for Science and Technology chairman Nicholas Sammut and Maria Brown, Include-ed research assistant, among others.
The seminar is aimed at directors, education officers, college principals, administrators, school heads, social workers and any other interested stakeholders involved in education and social policy.
