A 92-year-old Frenchman, Georges Charles Andre, ended up in court late yesterday after a .22 pistol and blank cartridges were found in his luggage at the airport.

The discovery was made when the man was about to take a flight for France.

Investigations revealed that he had brought the weapon with him from France and was taking it back.

The man pleaded guilty to the illegal importation and export of a weapon and was condemned to a six-moth jail term suspended for a year.

The pistol and ammunition were seized.
