Electoral Commission announces early voting arrangements

Option possible for voters who will be abroad or in hospital on polling day

Voters who will be abroad or in hospital on election day can cast their vote early on May 23, the Electoral Commission announced on Thursday.

Voters must notify the commission through a declaration filed between Friday May 1 and noon on May 22.

Declarations can either be made online via the electoral commission’s website or at the Office of the Electoral Commission, Vote Counting Complex, Ex-Trade Fair Grounds, Naxxar, and at the Electoral Office, Triq Ta’ Wara s-Sur, Rabat (Gozo).

The office is open from 8am to 1pm and from 3pm to 8pm. On the last day of declarations, Friday May 22, the office will be open from 8am to Noon.

Applicants must bring their ID Cards.

Voters registered in Malta will cast their vote at the Vote Counting Complex at Naxxar while those registered under Gozo shall vote at the Government Experimental Farm, Imġarr Road, Xewkija.

Collection of voting documents

Meanwhile, voters registered in Gozo who wish to collect their voting document from Malta and vice-versa, must submit a written request “as soon as possible” by not later than 6pm of Thursday May 28.

Requests are to be sent by email to maltagozo.electoral@gov.mt.

Voting documents in Malta are collected from the Vote Counting Complex in Naxxar and, in Gozo, from the Electoral Office, Triq ta’ Wara s-Sur, Victoria, Gozo.

Voters can collect the documents in person from May 25 to May 28 by showing their ID card.
