I refer to the letter by Pio Sultana (October 13) about electric bicycles and scooters.

In September/October, Mr Sultana noted there was an advert in the magazine Phone Direct regarding electric bicycles and scooters. Part of the advert read in bright yellow "Our E-Bikes are legally approved on the road".

May I draw the attention of the public and the police that there is a legal notice, LN129/2004, stating that electric bicycles can be used on the road?

No licence is required. No insurance is required. No petrol is required. Only a one-time registration fee of Lm5 is required.

Electric bicycles are environmentally-friendly and people should use these products especially in villages.
