Expansion works are underway at the factory of a multinational company as part of a €5 million investment that has also generated 20 new jobs.
Prominent Fluids, which manufactures water pumps and water treatment plants, had announced the multimillion euro project last year.
The German firm first set up shop in Malta in 1988 and has grown into an operation that employs 120 workers at a plant in Bulebel, the group's second largest factory among the 44 it has worldwide.
Visiting the factory, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said this was another show of confidence in the Maltese economy and praised the company's decision to invest during a troublesome international economic period.
The workers' capabilities, he continued, were one of the main reasons behind the company's renewed trust.
He described this as yet another link in a chain of similar announcements by Toly Products, Methode Electronics, Cardinal Health, Seabank Hotel and the Island Hotels Group.
