A group of 11 refugees are set to leave Malta to start a new life in Germany tomorrow.
The migrants, who enjoy international protection, are going to Germany as part of a bilateral agreement between the two countries. This departure will increase the number of refugees from Malta accepted by Germany to 31.
The group - nine adults and two children from Somalia and Eritrea, will be reunited with their families, who already reside in Germany.
Beneficiaries will receive support from their relatives and the local authorities in their integration process. After the arrival, they will attend an integration course that includes 600 hours of German language lessons, followed by 45 lessons of cultural orientation. This course will provide them with information on the legal system, political system, culture and history of Germany.
This relocation exercise is based on humanitarian grounds and has been implemented jointly by the German and Maltese authorities, with the help of the International Organisation for Migration offices in Germany and Malta.
