Sir Elton John’s Candle In The Wind '97 remains at the top of BBC Radio 2’s countdown of the UK's Top 100 Million Selling Singles.

Sir Elton, who will be performing live in Malta on September 26, had written the song as a tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales. It is a version of his 1974 single release, originally recorded as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe.

At the request of the Spencer family, Sir Elton rewrote the lyric following Diana's death, 13 years ago this week. The single has sold over 33,000,000 copies and all profits were donated to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

Compiled by The Official Charts Company for Radio 2, the top 100 is based on sales data from November 1952 to August 7, 2010.

The top five singles, starting from the fifth spot, are: Boney M. - Rivers of Babylon/Brown Girl In The Ring, Wings - Mull of Kintyre/Girls School, Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody, Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas and Sir Elton’s Candle In The Wind '97 from the album Something About The Way You Look Tonight.

Sir Elton’s performance in Malta will be his second. His first concert, back in 2003, was also organised by NnG Promotions and was attended by thousands of fans who talk about it to this day.

Sir Elton John is considered as one of the most successful solo artists of all time and throughout his career has sold in excess of 250 million records.

Known for a number of classic hits, such as I’m Still Standing, Nikita, Your Song, Daniel, Rocket Man, The Lion King’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Crocodile Rock and Tiny Dancer amongst others.

Percussionist Ray Cooper will also be accompanying Elton John on stage. Cooper, who started his career in the 60’s recording with The Who, has also collaborated with Elton John on most of his 1970s albums.

Cooper also did a short stint with The Rolling Stones playing percussion for their 1974 It's Only Rock'n Roll album. He has recorded with George Harrison, Art Garfunkel, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Mark Knopfler, Roger Waters, The Traveling Wilburys, Maynard Ferguson and Ravi Shankar among others.
