Topping its highly successful freighter route, Emirates SkyCargo now offers its customers in Malta scheduled non-stop services and 50 per cent more capacity to New York.
As from last month, Emirates' revolutionary Airbus A345, with a cargo capacity of 13-15 tonnes, started leaving from Dubai at 8 a.m. every day, reached New York at 2 p.m. and returned to Dubai at 8.20 p.m. the next day. Added to the weekly freighter capacity of 220 tonnes, Emirates SkyCargo now offers a total capacity of 325 tonnes per week.
Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates' district manager for Malta, said: "New York is one of the main exporting destinations for Emirates SkyCargo. Our scheduled services to New York will provide our customers in Malta timely and additional cargo capacity to and from markets in the east coast of the USA."
Since its launch last September, Emirates SkyCargo has had exceptional success in its freighter run to New York. It began its service with a Boeing 747-200F but with demand growing multi-fold, it added a Boeing 747-400F on the route in November.
Aided by its high-tech hub in Dubai, Emirates SkyCargo has effectively managed and consolidated various products, including electronics, garments, machinery and computer parts for onward transport to the US and in turn moved electronic and IT products, oil equipment and pharmaceuticals from New York across its network, particularly to Europe.
Combined with their twice-weekly freighter operations and cutting-edge technology, Emirates' new services ensure flexibility and efficiency. The well-timed connections ensure quick deliveries across its vast global network spanning 76 destinations.
Besides New York, Emirates SkyCargo's freighters provide global distribution capabilities to cargo-only destinations like Budapest, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Liege, Bangalore, Dalian and Taipei. Other busy trade routes served by the freighters, to supplement Emirates' passenger services include Milan, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Amman, Istanbul, Kuwait, Mumbai, Chennai, Dhaka, Bangkok, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Emirates Airline flies from Dubai to Malta three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday on A330-200 aircraft.
