Rooms held without title emptied - workers insulted

Workers from the Lands Department this morning continued a process of evictions from rooms along the Valletta bastions which are being held without title.

Officials emptied a number of rooms near Biagio steps, where rehabilitation work will start in the coming weeks. Some of the rooms were later demolished.

The workers and a timesofmalta.com cameraman were subjected to verbal abuse as they went about their work and the police had to intervene.

The Biagio steps building is to be converted into a museum and information centre on the fortifications.
