A 27-year-old Gozitan engineer was slightly injured in a minor explosion at an Enemalta substation in Sliema where he was repairing a fault. The explosion took place at the Sliema Union Club substation at about 12.10 p.m. "The engineer was promptly admitted to Mater Dei Hospital for immediate care, released soon after and sent home," Enemalta said.

It said that, as a result of the incident, power was disrupted in parts of Sliema and Gżira but was restored soon afterwards.

Enemalta apologised for the inconvenience caused.
