Participants from Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Hungary and Argentina took part in the fifth edition of the engineering PhD summer school on integrated product development (IPD) held recently by the University of Malta at the Archbishop’s Seminary, Tal-Virtu, Rabat. The summer school, run annually by Prof. Jonathan Borg (back row, left) from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, consisted of sessions run by academics as well as speakers from industry. It is endorsed by The Design Society and attracts researchers interested in understanding and researching the inter-relationships between design, manufacturing and business issues, besides complex aspects involved in the life cycle of products and services.
