BirdLife Malta said there was an enthusiastic response by students and educators to the fourth edition of its Dinja Wahda (One World) project.

Dinja Wahda is an environmental programme consisting of activities specially designed for primary school children. Eighty-three schools participated in the 2003/2004 scholastic year edition of the campaign, representing 22,000 primary school students.

All the activities carried out throughout the scholastic year were designed to further develop the students' knowledge about the environment and how to preserve it in its natural state. Many of the activities targeted the recycling, reduction and reuse issues. The students also had the opportunity to learn about birds and nature and appreciate their importance.

Schools participating in the project earned points for the activities carried out and will receive awards according to the number of points gained. The presentation of the awards will be held on Thursday.
