Epiphany concert draws large crowd at St Anthony’s church in Għajnsielem

Renowned singer Mary Spiteri also took part

St Anthony’s church in Għajnsielem was filled to capacity last Sunday during the annual Epiphany concert, now in its seventh edition. The guest performers were the Father’s Angels children’s choir of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart parish, Sliema.

The choir, under the direction of Louisa Frendo Wirth, performed a selection of 16 carols and songs, including Għalina Ġej, Christmas Night, L-Istorja tal-Milied, Mary Did You Know, Una Stella a Betlemme, Caro Gesù Bambino, Ħelu Bambin, Daqq tat-Tambur, Magnificat, and The Drummer Boy, among others. Also taking part in the concert was renowned singer Mary Spiteri, who has participated in numerous national and international music festivals, including the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest, where she placed third with Little Child.

The Father’s Angels choir was set up on April 30, 2022 by Fr Joe Caruana OFM, making its first public appearance on May 29 of that same year during the weekly Sunday children’s mass at the parish.

Comprising 22 children, aged five to 15, the choir has been invited to perform in numerous parishes, churches and institutions, where it has contributed to various religious and cultural events through its vibrant and well-received repertoire.
