Surely the mayor must be commended for all the great work done on the green areas in Sta Lucija but it seems that one particular spot always fails to catch his otherwise sharp eyes.
For many years, I personally have been begging him as well as his staff to do something about a small patch of soil situated in Kamelia Street c/w Oleander Avenue and on each occasion I was told that the matter was on the mayor's list.
Poor man, he must really be pitied for having such a tiresomely endless list as nothing has been done to this particular spot. Oh, but on very rare occasions the three oleanders planted there are actually pruned - this not being enough as the soil, untouched for the past 40 years, has never been tilled, thus enticing passers-by to relieve themselves of any debris in this very area. Dogs use it too.
Three weeks ago, I wrote to the mayor once again imploring him to do something tangible about this increasingly unhygienic eyesore. I have received an acknowledgment but 10 days later nothing has been done. Could it be that no action has been forthcoming due to his having taken offence since this particular area does not perhaps conform to the same political beliefs?
Is it not a fact that all the mayor's remunerations and monies passed for works in all the areas come from taxes paid by all of us - including myself?
I hope the ministry in charge of local councils takes note. Hoping that something will be done (who knows?)
