The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) recently hosted a prize-giving ceremony for its Poster Design Competition on ‘Air quality: our environment and our role’.

Spanning three categories divided by age groups (five to 10, 11 to 16 and 17+), participants submitted poster designs on air quality, covering aspects such as the science behind the air we breathe and the community’s role in minimising air pollution.

These posters will be used by ERA in its outreach initiatives to educate and communicate with the public on ambient air quality.

Submissions for this competition surpassed expectations. Hundreds of posters, including a considerable number from various schools around Malta were received by ERA, each one creative and artistic in its own right. Posters were judged on the basis of coverage of topic, layout and design, organisation and logical sequencing of ideas and mechanics.

Attractive prizes were awarded to the first three places of each category. The first prize winners were Jethro Azzopardi Duca for the youngest category, Karl Balzan for the 11-16 category and Ian Zerafa for the adult group.
