Rebecca Buttigieg from Convent of the Sacred Heart Foundation, St Julian's, and Nicola Abela Garret from Ġian Franġisk Abela Junior College, Msida, won the Fifth and Sixth Form sections respectively of the British Culture Association 2008-09 essay competition.
The other award winners in the Fifth Form section, in decending order, are Teresa Xuereb from St Clare College's Girls' Junior Lyceum, Pembroke, Manuela Zammit from St Thomas More College's Girls' Junior Lyceum, Żejtun, Daniel Galea from St Martin's College, Swatar, and Desirée Borda from Our Lady Immaculate School, Ħamrun.
Merit prizes in this section went to Lydia Grixti from Convent of the Sacred Heart Foundation, Andreas Mallia from St Albert the Great College, Valletta, Bruce Micallef Eynaud from St Edward's College, Cottonera, George Zammit Montebello from St Martin's College, Gabi Naudi from St Monica School, Birkirkara, Andrew Zammit from St Michael's Foundation, San Ġwann, and Saviour Zammit from St Paul Missionary College, Rabat.
In the Sixth Form section, the other winners, in descending order, are Giulia Privitelli and Maria Mangion, both of De La Salle College, Cottonera, and Alexander Grima and Gabriella Herbert, both of St Aloysius' College, Birkirkara.
