Matthew Charles Zammit from St Paul's Missionary College, Rabat, and Brenda Coleiro from St Aloysius' College, Birkirkara, are the winners of the Fifth form and Sixth form categories respectively of the British Culture Association's annual essay competition.
Graziella Cini from Our Lady Immaculate School, Ħamrun, came second in the Fifth form category, Maria Cuschieri from the Convent of the Sacred Heart Foundation, St Julian's, came third, Nicky Thewma from St Edwards' College, Cottonera, fourth, and Maria Grazia Grech from St Benedict College's Girls' Junior Lyceum, Sta Luċija, fifth.
In the Sixth form category, second place went to Finian Massa from De La Salle College, Cottonera, Caroline Nabbe from St Martin's College, Swatar, came third, Bruce Micallef Eynaud from De La Salle College, fourth, and Bernice Saliba from St Aloysius' College, fifth.
Merit prizes in the Fifth form category went to Ruth Borg from St Monica School, Birkirkara, Alexandra Degiorgio from Agius de Soldanis Girls' Secondary, Victoria, Bernice Farrugia from St Thomas More College's Girls' Junior Lyceum, Żejtun, Ryan Farrugia from St Albert the Great College, Valletta, Miriam Grech from St Clare College's Girls' Junior Lyceum, Pembroke, Melissa McElhatton from St Martin's College, Sharon Muscat from St Monica School, Gżira, Jade Pace from Maria Assumpta Girls' Secondary School, Ħamrun, and Nicholas Thewma from St Ignatius Boys' Secondary, Ħandaq, Qormi.
In the Sixth form category, Emma Lewis from St Martin's College and Nicola Saccasan from St Aloysius' College received merit awards.
