The Employment and Training Corporation's law compliance unit carried out an exercise in Gozo where its inspectors visited 149 restaurants, hotels and other workplaces and found 320 people working.

After interviewing all the 320, it was discovered that 51 were not registered with the ETC, six were working while registering as unemployed and one was under age.

The ETC said it would be taking all the necessary steps according to law against the employers. "Those who were working while registering as unemployed will be removed from the employment register according to law," it said.
