The 18th meeting of the EU-Malta Joint Parliamentary Committee comprising Maltese MPs and members of the European Parliament will meet in Brussels today.
The meeting will be under the co-chairmanship of Louis Galea for the Maltese parliament and Luigi Gocolovo for the European Parliament.
The DOI said Gunnar Riberholdt, Danish ambassador representing the EU presidency, Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen, representing the European Commission and Foreign Minister Joe Borg will be making statements on the political situation in Malta and current EU-Malta relations.
Ursula Stenzel, rapporteur of the European Parliament on Malta's application for EU membership, Malta's chief negotiator Richard Cachia Caruana and EU chief negotiator Arhi Palosuo will be briefing the committee on Malta's application for membership and the accession negotiations.
