Euro calculation via SMS

Vodafone Malta has launched a euro calculator via SMS in collaboration with the National Euro Changeover Committee.

Vodafone subscribers may send an SMS to 154 with the amount for conversion in Lm (e.g. 1.54) and will receive an SMS with the euro equivalent (€3.59).

The service is available to all Vodafone subscribers at a standard rate of one cent per SMS.

Vodafone's project manager for euro conversion, Michael Coney, said: "The simplicity and mobility of this service will assist consumers in gaining confidence in the changeover process by allowing access to a responsive and accurate service that is in line with the NECC Dual Display guidelines".

Vodafone recently joined NECC's Fair initiative, aimed at ensuring that the pricing process remains entirely fair throughout the euro changeover period and keeping all customers assured that dual display of the euro is in accordance with the NECC guidelines.

"The National Euro Changeover Committee is pleased to join forces with Vodafone Malta to make this service available," said Melvyn Mangion, NECC's public and media relations manager.

"Ninety per cent of Maltese citizens think that dual display is essential during the euro changeover process. This new service is an innovative way to increase consumer confidence in retailers."
