Although Neil Kinnock may not be aware that Eddie Privitera will not be voting in the forthcoming European elections, as pointed out by Joseph Muscat (April 26), Mr Kinnock, like many other pro-EU fanatics, will certainly know that, along with Mr Privitera, a vast number of people all across the EU will not be voting too as a means of protest.
However, we all know without doubt that Mr Kinnock's other half, Glenys Kinnock, along with 30 other MEPs, stand accused of signing into the EU parliament to claim her MEP's daily allowance of £175, then leaving after one hour. This payment is on top of her £70,000 salary, £100,000 in expenses and Mr Kinnock's income as an EU Commissioner, which is in excess of £160,000, which he earns for trying to crack down on fraud within the EU.
Recently, Austrian MEP Hans-Peter Martin has claimed that Mrs Kinnock is one of the most prolific offenders for claiming attendance allowances and then not attending. However, Mr Kinnock instead of cracking down on fraud and corruption within the EU, including a few questions to his wife, has consistently persecuted those who courageously blow the whistle from within. Hounded out of their jobs within the EU Commission for reporting the nefarious activities of MEPs, EU commissioners and corrupt EU organisations are Bernard Conolly, Paul Van Buitenen and Marta Andreasen.
More recently OLAF, the EU's fraud investigation team, have raided the offices of newspaper journalist Martin Tillack, removed computers, papers and mobile phones. He was held and questioned without legal representation for 24 hours and is still under investigation. His crime? He reported fraud within the EU.
It is no wonder that Mr Privitera and millions of others will not be voting in the European elections in June - what is the point of voting for such a corrupt and disreputable organisation as the EU? At least I, as an Englishman, will have the opportunity to vote for the UK Independence Party and send a resounding no message to the EU loud and clear.
