European socialists back MLP programme

The Party of European Socialists has written to Labour Party leader Alfred Sant saying that through his programme, Malta can make a real success of EU membership.

In his letter, party president Poul Rasmussen said:

"Dear Alfred

"I support you in your fight for more and better work for families. You are right to emphasis the need to lift Malta out of economic stagnation, and you are right in putting a better quality of life for all families at the heart of your programme for a new Labour Government for Malta.

"You have a progressive programme which will create a more modern, a more social Malta, a Malta that can make a real success of its membership of the EU. A more prosperous Malta that will benefit all families, not just a select few. The PES stands for a new Social Europe, for more and better jobs – and our vision is your vision, and to achieve our common vision we need you to achieve it in Malta.

"I wish the Malta Labour Party, under your leadership, every success in the elections."
