The first estimate for eurozone trade with the rest of the world last April showed a surplus of €1.3 billion, compared with +€6.8 billion in April 2004, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Communities, said.

The March 2005 balance was +€4.3 billion, compared with +€10.4 billion in March 2004.

In April 2005 as compared with March 2005, exports, seasonally adjusted, rose by 0.9 per cent and imports by 1.3 per cent.

The first estimate for April 2005 extra-EU25 trade was a €9.7 billion deficit, compared with -€7.2 billion in April 2004.

In March 2005, the balance was -€6.4 billion, compared with -€1.6 billion in March 2004.

Comparing April 2005 with March 2005, exports, seasonally adjusted, rose by 1.1 per cent and imports by 0.8 per cent.
