Evenings on Campus, the popular summer festival of visual and performing arts, is being held at the university campus until August 25. The evenings started on July 21.

Coordinated by Koperattiva Kulturali Universitarja in collaboration with the University of Malta, the programme is sponsored by the Bank of Valletta.

Karmenu Borg, manager of Bank of Valletta's university branch, presented the sponsorship to Simon Mercieca, acting president of the cooperative in the presence of Anna Catania, Evenings on Campus manager.

Mr Borg said this summer festival of visual and performing arts was a mainstay in Malta's cultural calendar. Dr Mercieca said the event has established itself within the local cultural calendar thanks to quality performances and to the valuable collaboration of university academics, non-academics as well as students.

This year's festival includes an opera being performed at St Elmo, a Greek play, a dance version of Petrarch's 'Triumph of Death', a ballet performance featuring prima ballerina Françoise Dupriez-Flamand, who was often Nureyev's partner at La Scala, and a Maltese evening.

The festival will also feature various musical concerts as well as the screening of six films.
