This year's Olympic Day Run, to be held on Sunday, June 22, carries added significance as it will commemorate the 75th anniversary of two prestigious sporting bodies.
The Malta Olympic Committee, fresh from its successful staging of the GSSE 2003, is holding this year's event as part of the festivities commemorating its 75th anniversary.
The organisation of the race - starting from Mdina at 8.30 a.m. and finishing at City Gate, Valletta - has again been entrusted to the Malta Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) who is also celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Every effort is being made to ensure that this year's event would be the best organised to date.
A fun run, open to adults as well as children of all ages, will set off at 8.15 a.m. from Blata l-Bajda (near the monument of the late President of Malta, Dr Anton Buttigieg) to City Gate.
Both events are supported by Powerade, the popular energy drink imported in Malta by General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd. Powerade and Kristal products will be available throughout the race to refresh the participants.
All those interested in taking part in the Mdina to Valletta road run may obtain more details by contacting Maurice Spiteri on 7943 1758 or Valerie Farrugia on 9944 8933.
One can also send a note at MAAA Head Office, 7, Racecourse Street, Marsa, or on e-mail: maaa@global.com.mt by not later than Wednesday, June 18.
