Excessive sound disturbing residents in areas around Ta' Qali

Clear regulation and effective enforcement needed

Excessive sound from open-air night parties in the Ta’ Qali area needs to be controlled, Momentum said on Tuesday.

It said it has been receiving an increasing number of complaints from residents of Mosta, Zebbug, Attard and Rabat regarding excessive and uncontrolled noise levels late at night.

"While there should be space for cultural events, entertainment, and open-air gatherings, this cannot come at the expense of residents’ basic right to rest and quality of life," the party said. It accused the major parties of repeatedly shown that they are unwilling to address the issue and said it is committed to introducing clear regulations, effective enforcement and accountability to ensure that entertainment and community life can coexist.
