Exhibition of original artworks inspired by Malta and Gozo

Paintings by artist Caitlin Grech at Banca Giuratale in Victoria till July 19

Artist Caitlin Grech has launched her latest solo exhibition, titled Il-Ġawhra tal-Mediterran (The Jewel of the Mediterranean), at the historic Banca Giuratale in Victoria, a venue that complements the collection’s focus on history, culture and national identity.

The collection of original hand-painted artworks inspired by the landscapes, heritage and cultural identity of the Maltese islands, reflects Grech’s lifelong passion for art and her deep appreciation for Malta and Gozo.

Through a series of carefully crafted paintings, the 28-year-old artist captures the islands’ distinctive character, portraying historic landmarks, picturesque villages, dramatic coastlines and enduring traditions that continue to shape the nation’s identity.

Among the artworks are the revered Ta’ Pinu national shrine, a moving tribute to the late Azure Window and a selection of scenes celebrating the natural beauty, architectural heritage, and everyday charm of both Malta and Gozo.

Grech says: “Il-Ġawhra tal-Mediterran is my love letter to the Maltese islands. Every painting reflects my admiration for our homeland and my desire to preserve its beauty, celebrate its rich cultural heritage and inspire others to appreciate the places that make Malta and Gozo so special.”

Grech has nurtured her artistic talent from an early age, developing a style that combines vibrant colour, attention to detail, and an appreciation for the stories embedded within the islands’ landscapes. Her work seeks to evoke a sense of nostalgia while celebrating the enduring beauty and resilience of Malta’s cultural heritage.

Il-Ġawhra tal-Mediterran runs at the Banca Giuratale in Victoria, until July 19, from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 2.30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to noon.
